We made it!
Our wee Songs of Separation project, which was intended to be just a short recording jaunt on the Isle of Eigg, grew into something far bigger than any of us could have expected!
Since the album launched in January 2016, we’ve had the great pleasure of meeting audiences all over the UK, playing to sold-out venues, receiving beautiful feedback from audiences (including many standing ovations and moving messages to our facebook from devoted listeners), collaborating with brilliant community choirs and exceptional professional musicians from Wales, Ireland and the Scottish Highlands, and having a grand old party at The Scottish Trad Awards!
It was notable that the support from audiences for the project is not just limited to a love of the music. People responded to the themes and issues raised by the music; the ecological, economical, gender, societal and political ‘separations’ we experience as human beings. This gave rise to fantastic debate, interesting articles, great interview questions from people in the media, and a sense that many of us still seek and value this human connection in an increasingly ‘separated’ society. So many of us want to “pull down the walls”.
We’ll post some of the feedback from our wonderful audience members in the next few weeks!
In the meantime, we just want to say ‘thank you’.
