Eigg is a small Scottish paradise, an hour’s boat ride from Mallaig, on the west coast of Scotland. With its peaceful beauty, Eigg feels a million miles from the hustle bustle of the mainland. In 1997 the island made the international headlines, when its small community of 80 people successfully ousted an absentee landlord, gaining governance over the island and over their own lives. Steeped in history, Eigg’s wonders include abandoned villages that would have been home to a community of around 500 people, prior to the Highland Clearances. The island has its own stories of separation to tell. Islands evoke a feeling of separation, and the journey across the water will allow the musicians a sense of space and time to really immerse themselves in exceptional music making.
