We are delighted to share the news that we will be supported to tour this work in 2016, by PRS Foundation’s Beyond Borders funding stream. This funding encourages bands to take their work ‘beyond borders’, touring in at least three UK countries. It is a collaborative funding stream, which comes from the different arts councils working together, including Creative Scotland, Arts Council of Wales, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Arts Council of Ireland / An Chomhairle Ealaíon. Find out more here.
Songs of Separation is a large ensemble, and with our trusty sound man, Andy Bell, we number 11 people! This means that touring is quite a challenge on a financial level – but it is a challenge that PRS Foundation’s Beyond Borders has helped us solve, in relation to gigs in England, Wales and Scotland in 2016. We are enormously grateful for this support.
We’re also keen to do something boundary-breaking with the project, involving audiences through singing workshops, reaching far wider audiences than otherwise possible by developing a film of our live performance, and by being part of a large collaboration with female musicians from across Europe. PRS Foundation’s Beyond Borders funding will enable us to take the project that much further and will, we hope, result in some unforgettable experiences for audiences and musicians, both professional and amateur.
Keep an eye on our website for information about gigs – we’d love to see you (and hear you!) there!
